Cyber Patrol was one of the best over-all products we reviewed.

Cyber Patrol was one of the best over-all products we reviewed.  Its word filtering for any IM/Chat program was most impressive.

Key findings:
Provided great word filtering for any IM chat product. (Requires parental setup)Provided best protection for IM centered teensProvided best program control.  Block or limit any program on your system. Even if it’s not connected to the InternetFiltering failed to restrict abortion and homosexual content
Cyber Patrol was one of the best over-all products we reviewed.  Its word filtering  for any IM/Chat program was most impressive.  This requires some setup by the parent.  It will "asterisk-out" any word you list as inappropriate.  That could be anything from profanity to your phone number, address, or other personal information.  You also may want to enter in some “leet speak”.  See http://www.noslang.com/ for a list of commonly used IM slang words and phrases.

Internet Filtering was also rated average and it didn’t block P2P programs directly. It did have a program control feature that allowed us to block or limit any program installed on the machine.  So, if P2P programs were installed you could block that at that point. We found it a unique Idea to be able to block or restrict any program on the computer.  For example, you could limit usage of a certain game to one hour per day if you wished.

Homosexual and abortion related content was not blocked, nor could we find an area or category for those types of sites.  This issue could be solved, however, this by adding your own custom keywords to the keyword blacklist.

We recommend this product cecause of its ease of use and notification features. Take the time to activate those features to get the most from the product.
