BOTTOM LINE:
One single competitor goes against a "mob" of 100 others. They are asked a series of multiple-choice, trivia questions that go from easy to hard. The prize starts off small and grows to one million dollars. Every time the competitor answers correctly, the prize increases, and whoever was wrong in the mob is out. If the competitor gets the answer wrong, the game is over, and the remaining mob splits the money. After every question, the competitor can choose to stop the game and keep the money already won or keeping playing, but risk losing all of it.

"Parents need to know that this entertaining, trivia-based game show is generally innocuous but occasionally contains some implied sexism and stereotypes. In at least one episode, a scantily clad woman receives leering attention from host Bob Saget and a male contestant. Also, Saget sometimes implies that certain members of the 100-person "mob" are smarter or dumber based on their avocation (teacher, waitress, surfer, etc.)," states Sierra Filucci of Common Sense Media.

"The success of "Deal or No Deal" has brought us "1 vs. 100" (8 p.m. Friday, WMAQ-Ch. 5), a cheap and cheerful mindless entertainment. It's by no means must-see TV, but this is one game show you don't have to be ashamed of getting sucked in to," says Maureen Ryan of Chicago Tribune.

"Not that "1 vs. 100" is doomed to failure. Not at a time when "Deal" can sprout into an instant phenomenon. And while European success hardly makes for a crossover guarantee, this one feels enough like "Millionaire" to give it a decent shot at keeping the "Deal" audience on Fridays even with Saget running the show rather than Regis Philbin," tells Ray Richmond of The Hollywood Reporter.
