SUMMARY: 
Alex (played by Hugh Grant), a famous pop star in the 80's, now is dealing with his lack of fame and popularity.

BOTTOM LINE:
Alex (played by Hugh Grant), a famous pop star in the 80's, now is dealing with his lack of fame and popularity.  When he gets the opportunity to write a song for a teenage star, he finds help (and romance) with his friend Sophie (Drew Barrymore).  There is some sexual content, although no explicit sex is shown.  Scenes with the teenage pop star include provocative clothing and dancing, and the film contains mild profanity.

What reviewers are saying about Music and Lyrics:
Common Sense Media's Heather Boerner explains, "Alex and Sophie sleep together, but nothing salacious is shown on screen (they kiss a few times, but nothing graphic), and Alex gets into a fight with Sophie's ex. The language is mild, and there's not much drinking."

Christopher Lyon of Plugged In Online writes, "Cora's hyper-sexualized pop star image, dancing and song lyrics come across as a kind of satire on today's overtly sexual young stars. But the camera never misses a chance to ogle. It zooms in on Cora as she dances very sexually by herself, and with a cadre of male and female partners."

Yahoo!'s Movie Mom Nell Minow comments, "There is very brief strong language, some sexual references, a non-explicit sexual situation, and some dancing in skimpy clothes. There is a brief reference to drug and alcohol abuse, and some comic violence, including a punch."
